Terms of Service

The agreement, in plain English.

These terms govern your use of SubCut. By using the service you agree to them. They're written to be clear about exactly what we provide and β€” just as important β€” what we don't.

Last updated: May 2026

01

What SubCut is

SubCut is a read-only financial data analysis tool. We connect to your UK bank account via TrueLayer (or accept a CSV upload), detect recurring charges and subscriptions, and guide you through cancellation.

The service is delivered as a web application accessible at subcut.co.uk.

02

What SubCut is not

To be unambiguous:

  • We cannot move money. SubCut has read-only access to your accounts. We cannot make, authorise, or initiate payments.
  • We do not cancel subscriptions automatically. SubCut surfaces the relevant cancellation steps and provides ready-to-send messages β€” you complete cancellations directly with each merchant.
  • We do not provide regulated financial advice. SubCut is an informational tool. Nothing on the service constitutes a personal recommendation under FCA rules.
  • We are not your bank. We do not hold your money or operate payment accounts.

03

Your responsibilities

By using SubCut you agree to:

  • Only connect bank accounts you own or are authorised to access.
  • Keep your account credentials (including any SubCut login) confidential and secure.
  • Use the service only for lawful purposes and not in any way that would damage, disable, or impair its operation.
  • Take responsibility for the cancellation decisions you make. SubCut surfaces information; the decision to cancel any service is yours.

04

Pricing

Free tier β€” core subscription detection, upcoming renewals, the cancellation hub, and the AI-generated cancellation messages are free to use.

SubCut Pro β€” Β£3.99/month β€” unlocks advanced features: price-increase tracking, the smart savings pot, bill comparison, renewal alerts, and yearly waste forecasting.

All prices are in GBP and include VAT where applicable. Pricing may change with at least 30 days' notice to active subscribers.

05

Cancelling SubCut Pro

You can cancel SubCut Pro at any time from your account settings or by emailing hello@subcut.co.uk. There are no cancellation fees and no minimum term.

When you cancel, you keep Pro features until the end of your current paid period. We don't pro-rate refunds for partial months unless required by UK consumer law.

UK consumers have a statutory 14-day right to cancel after first purchase. Email us within that window for a full refund β€” even if you've started using the service.

06

Service availability

We work hard to keep SubCut available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may pause the service for maintenance, security, or to release new features.

We rely on third parties (notably TrueLayer and your bank) for parts of the service. If those upstream providers are unavailable, parts of SubCut may be temporarily unavailable too.

07

Limitation of liability

SubCut is provided β€œas is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.

We are not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate, incomplete, or stale data received from your bank or TrueLayer, or for any actions you take on the basis of information surfaced in the app.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for fraud, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under English law.

08

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes we'll notify active users by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that period constitutes acceptance.

09

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
